Gilberto returns for Arsenal

Gilberto played against Manchester City today for Arsenal.
At most, he was expected to make a substitutes appearance, but when Philipe Senderos suffered an injury during the warmup to the game, Gilberto was drafted into the centre of defence beside Kolo Toure.
It was for this reason that Gilberto wasn’t given the captain armband, since Kolo Toure had already put it on during the warmup. To change the armband would have used up vital energy in Kolo Toure’s vast musculuar figure, and Arsenal then may not have won the game 1-0.
So yes… Gilberto played the whole 90 minutes of the game, and Arsenal won 1-0. But I already said that.
It’s great to have Gilberto back – let’s hope it’s the start of another industrious campaign for the legendary Brazilian.
